On August 22, with the kids at my parents so that Matt and I could close the loops on some home projects before the baby comes, we awoke to a basement with puddles in it! Our sump pump had failed, and with over 4 inches of rain in the past 5 days, that meant a lot of water had seeped in. A huge home project to add to our list!
We are now moving ahead on getting the basement restored. We had figured we would do some painting and carpet changes in the basement in a few years, but the project got thrust upon us a little sooner! Here are some pictures of our big mess! Thankfully our insurance company paid for a service to come in to remove the carpet and set up the huge fans and dehumidifiers so it could dry up in less than a week. Now we just have to get carpet and base trim and get it all put back together before the baby comes in 6 weeks!

and oh my…a little stress to add to the mix! but it’ll be so nice to have it all done. what color is on the walls? it looks really nice. are you enjoying decorating the basement and getting it done?
Heidi, what a mess! Sorry you have to deal with all that at this stage in pregnancy! It’ll feel great to get it all done, though!
